Olde Naples Residence Addition

Naples, FL

Project Type: Residential – Remodel, Addition & Alteration

The conceptual challenge presented by the homeowners of this 1960’s Downtown Olde Naples, pre-air conditioning 3 bedroom residence was to design a 21st century, 6 bedroom house that did not completely “tear down” the existing structure. This challenge was born out of the fact that this homeowner had purchased the property from his parents after thirty years of family memories being created within the home. Local colleagues insisted to the homeowner that this desire was ill-advised and unfeasible. Our team discovered an irreplaceable and memorable element, a forty foot by sixty foot jade and onyx terrazzo floor slab. We designed a new two-story residence around that beautiful floor which is highlighted as the home’s focus serving as the finish floor to the two-story kitchen, dining room and covered lanai.

The house is composed of three bedrooms and 3.5 baths on the ground floor with a family room and den surrounding the terrazzo floor, two-story great room. The upper level that overlooks the memorable terrazzo floor is home to 3 bedrooms + 3 baths with a playroom area. The major building materials included a stucco ground floor exterior, lap siding upper level exterior, standing seam metal roofing panels, wide plank oak wood flooring and new 7”x7” glass mosaic pool finish.
